  13. COLORADO '88 AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER 09.28.06
    COLORADO '88 AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER

We're delighted to announce Colorado '88, a three-CD set of recordings compiled from Phish's seminal tour of the Rocky Mountain State, available now for pre-order, with a Halloween release date. Mastered from the original analog cassette tapes, Colorado '88 contains recordings of songs that, until now, have not been widely traded or heard with such clarity. Several of the tracks found in the collection have never before appeared on an official Phish release.

Having conquered the New England college club circuit, Phish embarked on a storied adventure West. The band played seven shows in ten days to tiny crowds in small bars and restaurants in the ski towns of Telluride and Aspen. Colorado '88 culls, in chronological order, the best of those shows, providing a vivid glimpse into the days before the three and four-night stands at amphitheatres and arenas that would distinguish Phish in the years to come.

The material on Colorado '88 depicts the young band at one of the heights of their characteristic adventurousness. From extended forays into their Gamehendge mythology to classic and obscure covers, to cult gems, Colorado '88 includes much of the hard-to-find early Phish that die-hards have sought after for years. The release gives fans the chance to share the experience of hearing the band in such an intimate setting.

Colorado '88 is available now for pre-order exclusively from Phish Dry Goods and will also be offered for track-by-track download, along with five bonus tracks unavailable elsewhere, from LivePhish.com. For a complete tracklisting and to pre-order Colorado '88, click here.

  32. WHITE TAPE AND TRACK-BY-TRACK DOWNLOADS AT LIVEPHISH.COM 06.07.06
WHITE TAPE AND TRACK-BY-TRACK DOWNLOADS AT LIVEPHISH.COM

We're pleased to announced the launch of single track-by-track downloads at LivePhish.com. You can now sample every track from extensive Live Phish archives and purchase MP3 downloads of single songs under 12 minutes for 99 cents. Track-by-track downloads give fans the ability to create their own compilations of their favorite Phish tunes. Full shows are still available at $9.95 for MP3s or $12.95 for FLAC files.

In addition, The White Tape is now available for download as single track MP3s or as a whole album in MP3 and FLAC at LivePhish.com for the first time. Soon after forming the band, "Phish" (aka The White Tape) was created from four-track recordings which the band and band members mixed, dubbed and circulated as a demo. It consists of an assortment of four-track recordings from 1984-1985 including four songs recorded by all the existing members of Phish as a band: Alumni Blues, AC/DC Bag, Slave To The Traffic Light and Dog Gone Dog (a/k/a Dog Log). The balance was recorded separately by the band members and blended together from 4-track cassettes to create the album as we know it. Trey has said The White Tape exemplifies, perhaps more than any other studio effort, the band's unbridled creative freedom of the day. The White Tape highlights Phish's early development with ethereal soundscapes and interesting sketches on Phish's classics-to-be such as an acoustic The Divided Sky as it existed then and even an acapella rendering of You Enjoy Myself.

In 1998, The White Tape was re-mastered from the 2-track cassette master and sold as the first CD from the band's extensive archives through Phish Dry Goods. In 1999 The White Tape was released as a full-album download from EMusic.com, bundled with the previously-unreleased early studio track, "The Curtain (With)." The original art for the cassette demo was created by Trey himself and was updated for the CD release by artist Jim Pollock. To commemorate the release of The White Tape download, Jim also created, hand-printed and signed 100 limited-edition posters. A snapshot in time, The White Tape is a must-have for any fan and a perfect introduction to the band's studio work.

  51. MIKE GORDON & RAMBLE DOVE FLY INTO BONNAROO 02.01.06
MIKE GORDON & RAMBLE DOVE FLY INTO BONNAROO

As Carl Perkins once sang, "let's give ol' Tennessee credit for music." From the whiskey-soaked wee hours of Burlington, Vermont's Radio Bean Cafe flies Ramble Dove. What began as a weekly hang paying homage to honky-tonk music, capturing the essence of dancing, drinking and losing the one you love, now makes its way to the backyard of Nashville, country music's capital city.

Mike and a handful of Vermont's finest twangers will take the cozy confines of Honky Tonk Tuesdays to the big stage at 2006 Bonnaroo, where they will pay tribute to giants like Hank Williams, Lefty Frizell, and George Jones, as well as modern greats like Jim Lauderdale and Gram Parsons. Have beers at the ready for twang and tears.

Tickets for the 2006 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will go on sale Saturday, February 11, at 10:00 AM Eastern Time at Bonnaroo.com. Additional performers include Radiohead, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Stephen Malkmus, Beck, Dr. John, Gomez, Son Volt, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Bill Frisell, Seu Jorge, Dungen, Shooter Jennings, Grace Potter, Jerry Douglas and more.
